Compilations with Upsidedown Cat songs
Picket Line Soundtrack -To go with graphic novel of the same name written by my penpal Breena Wiederhoeft/Breena Bard, I wrote an original song per her request about a break up called About Your Way. Recorded at Sound Ghost Studios. Breena has several other great books, check them out! www.breenabard.com
Friends and Friends of Friends vol 4- Library Books was on this two disc compilation put out by Tender Loving Empire. It was really exciting! 2011, Also on Spotify!
Other projects that Upsidedown Cat has helped sing on:
Bruhn - Analog Wait, sang backing ooos on I’m Tired. (My husband and his best friend Chris’ band.) 2016. Stay tuned for more back up singing on their upcoming album AM Noise! [https://bruhn.bandcamp.com/track/tired]
Dr. Wattley- Backing vox on the songs GWB (There’s swears...) and Clean Up My Act. A few more songs to come as they are released, stay tuned! [https://drwattley.bandcamp.com/track/clean-up-my-act]
Mick Seppala- I got to sing on my buddy Mick's song Photographs- sharing tracks across the country during a pandemic! So fun and reminds me of all our friends wandering around town together back in the day :) on.soundcloud.com/Abyi9
Ink Brethren- An improv songwriting game night that met ~monthly at Team Fadel HQ in 2006-2007ish. We have over 100 songs on Soundclick. I started out in the background - unsure of what to sing and then as time went on Abbi & I did echo duets and I even sort of lead some songs. I guess one song I sang a bit on that I can think of right this second is [I Saw You. www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=4835193 ] There are so many other Great ones: Bone Dry, Kite in Tree Foot in Mouth, Mint Medley, Seance, It’s a Slippery Slope, Will You Stay The Night?, Steal My Birthday, It’s Bedtime. Probably just listen to them all someday, K? I recommend listening with headphones so you can hear all the details but watch out for the occasional loud flutes!
Agents of Future- Part of group vox on a few songs from the albums Sneak Peeks at Magic Moments from 2009 [https://agentsoffuture.bandcamp.com/album/sneek-peaks-at-magic-moments ] and Total Giant Times in 2011. So good! I learned to sing in front of people/into a microphone while attending a church called The Bridge and AOF is the handwritten music from there . I learned harmonies while singing in the crowd. (Ink Brethren is basically the same folks, just the afterparty I guess you could say.)
Good Songs Good Cheer- Sound Ghost Musical Collective’s Christmas album from 2008. So many laughs it was hard to make it through takes since we were singing in a circle around the mic. [soundghostcollective.bandcamp.com/album/good-songs-good-cheer ]
Future Tomorrow- Our attempt at a smaller Ink Brethreny type thing. Johnathan (Check out his band Streetcar Conductors!), Alissa, Abbi & I. Machine Wash Cold is our hit! That's what my momma told me! www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=6147080 ]
Darrell Baker- A Musical about Noah and the craziness as he built the ark: Crazy Old Man- I was a townsperson for just a few seconds on the song Dr Pain. Still was a fun experience! darrellbaker.bandcamp.com
Future Collaborations:
The long awaited Bear vs Cat is still yet to really record. Chris from the band Bruhn and Laura from Upsidedown Cat. If we had recorded Clean Hands earlier we might have made $$ in 2020...ha. But the good thing is the handprinted cassette covers have been ready since 2010! :P
